Gas Prices rocketing again

Gas prices continue to surge nationwide, and are now up more than 27% in the past seven and a half weeks. According to AAA, the national average is $2.61 a gallon. That's up more than 40 cents from last month. Drivers in Central and Northern New York are paying even more than that. But despite the recent rise, gas prices are still well below year-ago levels of $3.988 a gallon and last year's all-time high of $4.114 a gallon. But there are serious concerns that prices will keep rising. As the outlook for a rebound in US economy looks brighter the oil prices seems to be heading north. Oil prices briefly traded at a 6-month high of above $70 a barrel Friday, before edging lower.
